Writer Helena Drysdale travels to Madagascar and discovers an ancient ritual whereby its people exhume and dance with their dead relatives before rewrapping them in fresh grave clothes. This is the tradition of famadihana, or the ‘Turning of the Bones’, a ritual unique to the Indian Ocean island that has been carried out for centuries. For the Malagasy, the ritual is an essential way of maintaining ties with the dead.

Drysdale also penned a book with the same title.
