Twenty-nine year old jewellery maker Louise (Beatie Edney) is on a quest to find the perfect man but her interfering left-wing activist mother Liz (Charlotte Cornwell) often gets in the way. In her search for a boyfriend Louise makes many bad choices, but can always rely on advice from her best friend Carla (Holly Aird) and Carlas’s husband Dave (Nigel Lindsay). Dressing for Breakfast, based on a novel by the same name also written by series scriptwriter Stephanie Calman, ran for three successful series on Channel 4.
